Book Two On The Way

Book two of Sir Princess Petra - The Pen Pieyu Adventures is currently being published. The book should be released by the end of this year or early in 2013.

Writing book two was a whole lot easier than writing book one. I guess once the writer establishes
their characters, the characters sort of take over the writer. That's what I found out, anyway.

Don't get me wrong--writing is never an easy process, it just gets easier with lots of practice.

Petra Longstride is the main character in this series. She is a nine year old princess who becomes a knight in book one. I like Petra. She is kind-hearted, friendly, innocent and, she looks at the world through rose-colored glasses. She can be tough when need be, like when she has to defend her friends, or stick up for something that is noble. She is a tomboy and she is brave. Petra lives in The Kingdom of Pen Pieyu.

I just wish she would quit waking me up in the middle of the night with some hair-brained adventure that needs to be written down "right now!"

Snarls is the dragon in this series. Now, he's not your usual kind of dragon. He is also Petra's steed and adventure companion after . . . well, you'll have to read book one to find out that story. Snarls is a pretty cool dragon, though. He protects Petra and sometimes needs his own protecting. Sometimes he can't control his fire breathing skills and sends out streams of soot and onion peels.

Petra's parents, King Willy Longstride and Queen Mable Longstride, are a little stuffy and conventional. King Longstride makes up rules in the Royal Rule Book to try to get Petra to act like a princess. This, of course doesn't work. Queen Longstride has a severe fainting problem that Petra is usually the cause of.

Prince Nastybun is a midget prince from The Kingdom of Mesoggie. He rules a puny army that are real
scaredy cats. They are so scared, they wind up tangling themselves up in a ball of shivering knights--often.

Bograt is the bog witch who tries to appear really mean and scary, until you mention that the King could make her wash and put on a frilly dress again for messing around. Then she smartens right up.

These are the characters of book one which will also be featured in book two.

Book two introduces some more zany charaters; Duce Crablips from the Kingdom of Crablips,
King Asterman from The Land of Lost Donkeys, and the nearly illiterate Galutes from The Vast Wilderness.

So, here's a hint to some of the adventure in book two. King Longstride has written a new rule. The rule
states that all princesses must attend "talent school" before the age of ten years and learn a skill suited for a princess. She must study under King Asterman and come home with a princess certificate or else the royal magician will , , ,well, let's not go there.

Petra is not happy about this one bit. After all, she is a knight. She just wants to do knightly things, not this sissy girly stuff like knitting or crocheting.

Well, at least Snarls will be by her side enduring her hardships at talent school. Once they make it out of talent school, more adventures follow.
